As the title suggests, he won’t be alone, as another actor has elected to join the popular western saga.
It’s been announced that Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade,Carry-On) has joined the cast ofY: Marshals.He will play Pete Calvin, a close friend from Kayce’s military past, in the upcoming CBS series. The network announced the show earlier this year, which will have a 13-episode freshman season. As of this writing, an official premiere date has not been settled, butY: Marshalsis expected to debut during the 2025-2026 broadcast season on Sundays.
Y: Marshalsis one of severalYellowstonespinoffs currently in development. A new series titledThe Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, is set to revolve around a New York-based family that moves to the heart of Montana. A Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) series is in the works titledDutton Ranch, which would serve as the closest thing to a direct sequel toYellowstone. Meanwhile, it appears thatY: Marshalswill be the first spinoff to make it to air and release on CBS later this year or early 2026.
What Is ‘Y: Marshals’ About?
Y: Marshalsfollows the events of the final season ofYellowstone, with Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) finding freedom after leaving the Dutton ranch behind. Joined by his wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), who is expected to return, Kayce leads a new life far away from the burden of his inheritance. However, it seems he won’t be getting out of danger anytime soon, as he is now using his unique skillset as a U.S. Marshall in the war on violence in Montana. Check out the official plot synopsis:
“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”
Outside of Luke Grimes and Logan Marshall-Green, the cast ofY: Marshalsis unknown. However, expect CBS to round out the remaining members of the U.S. Marshals group sooner rather than later. Although cameo appearances by the originalYellowstonecast are expected, it sounds like the series will mostly follow a new group of characters around Kayce Dutton.
Yellowstone
Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner and centers on his character John Dutton. Dutton and his family live on a cattle ranch just a few hours away from Yellowstone National Park. The series chronicles the family’s struggle to defend their home from an Indian reservation and land developers. As if their life wasn’t complicated enough, the Duttons also have medical issues, political aspirations, and family secrets stacked against them.
