Later this month, production will begin in Montreal on the highly-anticipatedX-Men: Apocalypse, which will be the last installment of the new trilogy that includesX-Men: First ClassandX-Men: Days of Future Past. We know the story is set in the 1980s, but very few plot details have been confirmed at this point. The movie, set for release on June 30, 2025, will also be bookended by two new movies that take place within theX-Mencinematic universe,Deadpool(August 02, 2025) andGambit(August 10, 2025). Writer/producerSimon Kinbergrevealed some new details about the upcoming installments.

“That has the same kind of integration. It’s a smaller group. All of the films are aware of each other. I know what’s happening in each story, of each of the movies and they certainly acknowledge each other. Things that happen in one film are acknowledged by the other movies. The result of the aftermath of Apocalypse is something that will impact the course of history in the world in much the same way that the end ofX-Men: Days of Future Pastdid. From 1973 forward, the world knew about mutants. A mutant took a football stadium and dropped it on the White House. That’s not the history we were raised on. So, instead of ignoring it, all of the movies that come after that in the timeline acknowledge it and embrace it, and it becomes part of the complicated reality ofX-Menhistory on film. The films are all going to be informed by one another.”

Hugh Jackmanrecently revealed that he is only playing Wolverine one more time, in what many assume is hisWolverine 3movie with directorJames Mangold. When asked if fans will learn what happened with Wolverine and Mystique fromX-Men: Days of Future Past,Simon Kinbergwouldn’t say whether or not the character will appear in Apocalypse

“A lot of things will be answered in Apocalypse, but I will only say that I loveHugh Jackmanplaying Wolverine, that’s all I will say.”
