X-Men: Apocalypsefinally made its way into U.S. theaters this weekend and though it didn’t quite live up to the expectations placed on it by its predecessorDays of Future Pastcritically or financially, it is doing fairly well overall. However, much like inDays of Future Past, a universally loved element of the latestX-Menfilm isEven Peters' as Quicksilver. Thanks to 20th Century Fox, we now have a pretty cool look at how the character’s big action sequence forApocalypsewas created.

To coincide with the film’s North American release, the marketing team published a video onYouTubethat gives a great, although brief, look at everything that went into creating this big action set piece. In the sequence, theX-Mansionis clearly being destroyed, and Quicksilver is doing his best to help everyone get out safely. AsPetersputs it, “The mansion is imploding, so I am trying to get everybody out.”

There was somecontroversyof the character ofQuicksilveron screen, as it was reported shortly afterPeterswas originally cast inDays of Future PastthatJoss Whedonwas also planning on using a version of the character in inAvengers: Age of Ultron. The part inWhedon’s film ultimately went somewhat ironically toPeters’Kick-Assco-starAaron Taylor Johnson. Though, the general consensus seems to be thatBryan Singerhad a slightly better handle on the character and the action sequence fromDays of Future Pastseems to speak for itself.

The sequence forApocalypsewas reportedly one of the most complex and intricate parts of the entire shoot, taking a reported 30 days to shoot everything needed for the scene, not including the months of visual effects work needed to make the final product. Being that the last Quicksilver scene was one of the best parts ofDays of Future Pastthough, it makes sense the producers andSingerwould want to get it right this time around as well.Petershas been shy about taking credit for the final product though. In an interview with Collider, the actor gave most of the credit toSingerand the visual effects team.

“They did such a f*ckingawesome job. The special effects team is amazing. Bryan Schmears over at Second Unit, everybody just made that whole sequence awesome, I thought. I was just a minion. They just told me what to do so I didn’t really have much to do with it but I was curious to see how they were going to top it and if they could and I think they have. I’m very excited to see it myself. I’m excited for everybody to see it because we’ve been working hard on it.”

X-Men: Apocalypsehas been killing it at theinternational box officeso far, having bought in nearly $200 million already. The film will win the weekend stateside as well, bringing in an estimated $65 million through Sunday, which was on the lower side of the estimates, but it was plenty to trounce Disney’sAlice Through the Looking Glass.X-Men: Apocalypseis in theaters now and be sure to watch the Quicksilver featurette below.
