With shooting scheduled to begin next month in Montreal onX-Men: Apocalypse, directorBryan Singertook to hisInstagrampage to reveal a new piece of production artwork, which confirms that the mutant Warren Worthington III, a.k.a. Angel, will be featured in the sequel. The image appears to show Angel locked in a cage at some sort of a circus, but it isn’t known how this image will fit into the story line. It’s worth noting that we haven’t heard who is playing Angel yet, butwe reported last month thatactorBen Hardyhas signed on to play an important yet undisclosed character from theMarvelcomics, so it’s possible that he could be playing Angel.

The cast of this comic book adaptation includesOscar Isaac(Apocalypse),Alexandra Shipp(young Storm),Sophie Turner(young Jean Grey),Tye Sheridan(young Cyclops) andKodi Smit-McPhee(young Nightcrawler), along withX-Men: First ClassstarRose Byrneas Moira McTaggert.X-Men: First ClassandX-Men: Days of Future PaststarsJames McAvoy(Charles Xavier),Michael Fassbender(Erik Lensherr),Jennifer Lawrence(Mystique),Nicholas Hoult(Beast) andEvan Peters(Quicksilver) will all return to reprise their roles, withHugh Jackman’s Wolverine,Halle Berry’s old Storm andChanning Tatum’s Gambit expected to have cameo appearances.

X-Men: Apocalypse Production Artwork

Ben Fosterplayed Angel in 2006’sX-Men: The Last Stand, but sinceX-Men: Apocalypseis set in the 1980s, it would make sense for a younger actor likeBen Hardyto take over the role for this upcoming adventure. Hopefully directorBryan Singerwill shed more light on Angel’s role inX-Men: Apocalypseas we get closer and closer to production getting under way.
