Keep those fingers crossed, Star Wars fans, but Daisy Ridley thinks everyone is going to be satisfied with the way things pan out inThe Rise of Skywalker. This is a journey that has been, in a way, more than 40 years in the making, as this is set to be the conclusion of the entire Skywalker saga. That comes with the burden of expectation, there’s no doubt about that. But Ridley seems to think they’ve got something good coming our way.
Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the latest trilogy of Star Wars movies, has been making the rounds to promote her movieOphelia. During a recent interview, she was asked how satisfied she thinks fans will be on a scale from 1 to 10. While she wouldn’t put an exact number on it, she did indicate that fans will be happy and that it all felt good at the time on set. Here’s what she had to say about it.
“I think very satisfied. Everything we were doing felt, in the moment, very good.”
Granted, it’s not as though the main star of a gigantic, blockbuster movie franchise is going to question how happy possible moviegoers are going to be nearly six months ahead of its release. Still, any form of positivity is good for this particular franchise right now, given what happened withThe Last JediandSolo. While a certain number of very loud trolls don’t account for the majority, it’s still fair to say thatThe Last Jediwas divisive. And it’s quantifiable, by certain measures, thatSolodidn’t live up to the expectations that come for aStar Wars movie. Lucasfilm really needs something that all of the fans, both new and old, can get behind.
For now, much of what we’re going to see inStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalkerremains mysterious. But that just comes with the territory, especially when J.J. Abrams is involved. What we know for sure is that there is going to be something of a time jump and thatReywill have furthered her Jedi skills a great deal. We also know that Palpatine is coming back, in some form or another, which remains one of the most potentially fascinating elements of this entire movie. But, broad strokes, we’re mostly left to speculate for the time being.
The entire core cast from the past two movies will return, as will favorites such as Anthony Daniels as C-3PO and as Mark Hamill aForce ghost version of Luke Skywalker. We’ve also finally got Billy Dee Williams back as Lando for the first time sinceReturn of the Jediand, thanks to some repurposed footage from bothThe Force AwakensandThe Last Jedi, Carrie Fisher will be back once more as Princess Leia.
