We’ve blazed throughFate: The Winx Saga, and now we desperately need season 2. On August 19, 2025,Fate: The Winx Sagapremiered on Netflix. This teen drama series was inspired byWinx Club, an animated television show that originally ran from 2004 to 2009, then was revived on Nickelodeon, running from 2011 to 2019.
The story centers aroundfairiesat a magical boarding school, where they learn to use their powers. Abigail Cowen, known for her role as Dorcas inChilling Adventures of Sabrina, stars as Bloom, a fire fairy who was raised by humans. Her suitemates at school include a light fairy named Stella played by Hannah van der Westhuysen, a water fairy named Aisha played by Precious Mustapha, an earth fairy named Terra played by Eliot Salt and a mind fairy named Musa played by Elisha Applebaum.
According to data from FlixPatrol,Fate: The Winx Sagabecame Netflix’s top show in the world, topping the charts in countries like Argentina, Canada, France, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States. Despite that, Rotten Tomatoes only gave the show a 31 percent approval rating, calling it “flat, flimsy andforgettable” and “a fantastical flop”.
Additionally, some fans criticized the fact that Applebaum portrayed Musa and Terra replaced Flora. In the original story, Musa was East Asian and inspired by Lucy Liu, while Flora was Latina and inspired byJennifer Lopez, as reported by The Daily Dot.
So will there be a second season? Will fans get to watch the friendship between these suitemates grow even more? Will Bloom end up with a certain cute boy at school? Will everything change for the worse at Alfea, based on that end scene? A season two has not been announced yet, but there are some reasons to think that it could be possible.
First of all,Fate: The Winx Sagaended with some prettybig cliffhangers. Without spoiling anything for those who have not watched or finished the show yet, just know that there are some major loose ends that will need to be tied up eventually. Then there are the stats, as this teen drama, which The Guardian says recruited its writers from shows likeThe Vampire Diaries, flew to being a number-one series. Furthermore, there were only six episodes, compared to the 208 episodes and the four hour-long specials thatWinx Clubhad, meaning there is plenty of material to draw inspiration from and use going forward.
The star of the show, Cowen, talked about some of this with The Wrap, discussing her character’s empowerment and her own excitement for what comes next.
“That’s just kind of a little teaser into what her powers are going to be. And hopefully for the second season, if we get a second season, I think that’s just the beginning of them. I think that’s why we waited until the very end to tease and show the audience - like, get ready, this is about to get very intense.”
