If there is only one constant within every Marvel movie, throughout all of the different studios, it’s that comic book legendStan Leehas made a cameo in every single one of them. His brief performances have become the stuff of legend, and his scenes often provide plenty of comic relief, but not all of these movies have been hits. During a recent interview, the comic book legend revealed what his least favoriteMarvel movieof all time is, and it may surprise you.
Stan Leehas previously stated thatIron Man, the movie that started the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, is his favorite Marvel movie. During an interview withComic Book Resources,Stan Leewas asked what his least favorite Marvel movie was, revealing that he doesn’t really dislike any of the Marvel movies, but the one he’s most “disappointed” in is the 2005Fantastic Fouradaptation. Here’s what he had to say below.
“I was a little disappointed in the very firstFantastic Four, because I didn’t care for howDoctor Doomwas portrayed. But other than that, I thought the movie was great. And the actors were terrific. I believe they captured the spirit and the intent of all of the characters, and I’m delighted with how they all turned out. None of them have disappointed me. In fact, I think all of these movies have come out better than everybody ever thought they would…Even the early ones were good. Maybe I’m just my own biggest fan.”
Last week, a rumor surfaced that actressZendayais actually playing the iconicMary-Jane WatsoninSpider-Man: Homecoming. The rumor has never been confirmed, althoughGuardians of the GalaxydirectorJames Gunnaddressed the uproar over the young African-American actress possibly playing Mary-Jane Watson, although he didn’t actually confirm thatZendayais in fact playing this character.Stan Leewas also asked to chime in on the rumors, and he thinks it would be great ifZendayais playing MJ, who has been traditionally portrayed as a white female in the comics and other movies.
“I think it’s a great idea. I wish I had thought of it. I can’t wait to see that gal, I can’t wait to see that movie, and I think the public will love it.”
It’s worth noting thatZendayahas yet to be confirmed as MJ, with a leakedcast listrevealing that she’s playing a character named Michelle. DirectorJon Wattsalso revealed at Comic-Con thatZendaya’s character is named Michelle, with many fans speculating that this character is Michelle Garcia from the comics. Production is still under way onSpider-Man: Homecoming, so perhaps we’ll get confirmation onZendaya’s character and others after shooting wraps.
