Ahsoka, which was released on August 16, 2025, has finally concluded after eight incredible episodes written by Dave Filoni, who brought several pivotal moments fromStar Wars: The Clone WarsandStar Wars: Rebelsto life through Easter eggs, references, and the introduction of a new plot line that sheds light into the origins of Light Side and the Dark Side.
The series, which began slowly in the beginning, eventually picked up the pace and chronicled the journey of Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) as she began tracking down Imperial remnants who sought to bring back the Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelson) in order to reclaim the Empire.

What Happened in the Ahsoka Season 1 Finale?
Before we get into what impact the finale could haveon theStar Warsuniverse, let’s briefly recap what transpired inAhsoka’s eighth episode. Grand Admiral Thrawn, as usual, took preventive measures to keep Ahsoka at bay, going so far as to surprise them with a preemptive strike that delayed their preparations.
With no other choice, Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra (Eman Esfandi) stormed onto the Thrawn’s star destroyer, Chimaera, and fought their way through the endless undead night troopers who were controlled by the three witches of the Dathomir. As things became increasingly chaotic, with Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) blocking Ahsoka’s path, the task of stopping Thrawn fell into the hands of Ezra and Sabine.
During the episode’s final moments, Sabine uses Force to push Ezra into the star destroyer and subsequently aids Ahsoka in defeating Morgan. However, even after Huyang (David Tennant) gets back with the repaired ship and pursues the star destroyer, Thrawn escapes using the hyperspace ring, leaving Ahsoka and Sabine on Peridea. Following that,Ezra disguises himselfas a night trooper and flees Thrawn’s ship to meet General Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and the episode concludes, leaving fans to come up with their own theories on what happens next.

After Emperor Palpatine’s reign, the galaxy far, far away became a cruel place governed by a dictatorship that denied freedom to people. Moreover, individuals who refused to accept their rule were punished for no apparent reason, as seen inStar Wars' Andor. As a result, the Rebel Alliance was formed, with characters such as Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and many others shedding blood to free the universe from the clutches of the evil tyrant.

Despite their success and the formation of the New Republic,as seen inThe Mandalorian, the imperial remnants have created the First Order to reclaim the Empire. With Morgan Elsbeth leading a fleet to rescue Grand Admiral Thrawn, the situation has grown entirely chaotic, especially with Ahsoka trapped in Peridea. With Thrawn at the command of the First Order, the fall of the New Republic is inevitable, as seen in the sequel trilogy, where even Luke Skywalker has abandoned all hope while Leia Organa has begun fighting back once again as a rebel.
Furthermore, the New Republic is reluctant to believe that Thrawn may have survived the incident at the end ofRebels, even denying Hera Syndulla’s pleas when she explained the severity of Thrawn’s threat. The upcomingStar Warscanon projects will most likely feature how the New Republic fell while the Empire rose from the ashes under Thrawn’s ingenious reign.
The Force Is Unbalanced
The Force inStar Warsis only deemed balanced when the light side can fully keep the dark side in check, which is now especially important given that there has been no Jedi Order since the conclusion ofThe Clone Wars.Ahsoka’s final episode revealed a clue about the planet of Peridea, showcasing the three sculptures (Mortis Gods) of the Father, the Son, and the Daughter, who are considered the embodiments of the Forceas divulged inStar Wars: The Clone Wars.
However, the finale revealed that the head of the Daughter, who is supposed to wield the light side of the Force, has crumbled, meaning the dark side of the Force is finally gaining an advantage. Whatever way you look at it, it doesn’t bode well for those trying to bring peace to the galaxy.
