“Here we woe again,” asWednesdayseason 2has now begun filming for Netflix. A new teaser for the return ofThe Addams Familysequel series has now been released by the streaming giant, with the second season adding a whole host of new stars, including 1991’sThe Addams FamilyandBack to the FuturestarChristopher Lloyd. Wednesday season 2 will once again be led by Jenna Ortega in the title role, who was introduced to much acclaim back in 2022 as a now-teenage version of the beloved character.
The second series has now started production in Ireland (viaDeadline) and has added new series regulars Billie Piper (Scoop)and Steve Buscemi(Boardwalk Empire), as well as Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things) and Noah Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime), with Joanna Lumley (Fool Me Once, Absolutely Fabulous) also set to star in the series as new Addams family member Grandmama.
The likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones, who featured in the first season as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán, who starred as Wednesday’s father Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez, who played her younger brother Pugsley Addams, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo have now been promoted to regulars for season 2. Fred Armisen will alsoreprise the role of Uncle Fester, so expect to see a lot more from the wider Addams Family whenWednesdayreturns.
Other returning cast members include Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer.
Addams Family Star Christopher Lloyd Joins Wednesday Season 2
Follows Wednesday Addams' years as a student, when she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents. Directed by Tim Burton.
The new teaser for season 2 reveals that Thandiwe Newton will join the cast as Dr. Fairburn, with the likes of Frances O’Connor (The Missing), Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries), and Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) also on board. Perhaps the most surprising and exciting addition, however, isChristopher Lloyd, who will guest star in season 2 in an undisclosed role.
This is not Lloyd’s first foray into the ghoulish escapades of The Addams Family with the actor having starred as Uncle Fester in both 1991’sThe Addams Familyand its sequelAddams Family Valuesin 1993. Of course, he is not the first of the 90s cast to feature inWednesday, with former Wednesday Addams herselfChristina Ricci having starred in the first season.
Netflix Takes Wednesday Beyond Streaming with Official Blu-ray Launch
Wednesday fans can now watch their beloved Jenna Ortega character on Blu-ray and DVD.
With so many new additions, there is perhaps less room for some of the characters who were introduced in season 1,with further reports revealingthat Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, and Naomi J Ogawa “will not be returning in that capacity next season.”
