Like almost every actor,Vin Dieselwasn’t born a star, and he had to work his way through the ranks to achieve the fame he has earned today. Of course, along the way, he most certainly had to take on a number of odd jobs to pay the bills, and today a video surfaced from 1994 that showcases the now-famous actor as an incredibly enthusiastic salesman for Street Sharks.

The video was taken from the 1994 Toy Fair, showcasing the actor reveling in his products, showcasing the features of these action figures. At one point in the video, he even puts on a shark hand puppet, showcasing the “Rocky Balboaaction” of this toy. Thankfully for the actor, he wouldn’t have to sell toys for too long, because just a few years later, he would get his big break, thanks to directorSteven Spielberg.

A year after this video was taken,Vin Dieseldebuted his first short filmMulti-Facialin 1995, which he wrote, directed and starred in, and was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. In 1997, he followed that up with his first feature film Strays, which debuted in competition at the Sundance Film Festival. DirectorSteven Spielbergwas so drawn to his performance inMulti-Facialthat he cast him in the 1998 hitSaving Private Ryan.

He followed that up with providing the voice forThe Iron Giantin 1999, along with roles in 2000’s Boiler Room andPitch Black, and the 2001 action-thrillerThe Fast and the Furious. The rest, as they say, was history, and the actor went on to be one of the biggest stars of the 21st Century. But, as you’re able to see in the video below,Vin Dieselonce had a very strange job before he became a household name.
