Celebrate Thanksgiving With MST3K

Mystery Science Theater 3000

Mystery Science Theater 3000aired for the first time 35 years ago on Thanksgiving (November 24) 1988. And the series is the brainchild of its creator, Joel Hodgson, who portrayed the “inventive” janitor Joel Robinson — a lot of time was spent on naming the original character inMST3K— who watches and makes fun of terrible B-movies with the “wisecracking” robots Crow and Tom Servo. While thesci-ficomedy franchise has evolved with different hosts (Mike Nelson, Jonah Heston, Emily Connor) over the years, the cheese has remained when it comes to the type of B-movies fans can expect to see being made fun of. So, don’t expect to see any of thoseB-movies worthy of actually watchingrather than being riffed.

For this year’sMystery Science Theater 3000 Mega Turkey Day Marathon Telethon, the writers who have servedMST3Kpicked out a number of fan-fav episodes from the franchise to fill the 48-hour event on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Classic and newMST3Kepisodes riffing onThe Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent(1957),The Pumaman(1980),The Bubble(1966) andThe Christmas Dragon(2014) all grace this year’s lineup — and are ready to be made fun of all over again.
