It’s been five years since the lastHarry Potter movie,Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2hit the big screen, but the franchise is still just as popular as ever, but have you ever wondered what this magical world would be like as a 90s sitcom? If so, we have just the video you’ve been looking for, with a hilarious look at what the credits sequence for aHarry Potter90s sitcom may look like. This video will surely make you wonder what it would be like ifHarryand his Hogwarts friends had a laugh track behind their magical antics.
The video was put together by Comedy Central UK, featuring footage largely from the first few movies, accompanied by a theme song that is quite reminiscent of any of ABC’s “TGIF” sitcoms. The footage includes memorable scenes such as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart (Kenneth Branagh) accidentally removing the bones from Harry Potter’s arm after aquidditchmatch, Hermione’s (Emma Watson) polyjuice potion mishap that turned her into a cat and Ron (Rupert Grint) throwing up a fish.
Oddly enough, though, the video ends by introducing the house elf Dobby, voiced byToby Jonesin the movies, as “himself,” while the other introductions featured the actor and the character they were playing. The credit sequence also lists the lateRichard HarrisasDumbledore, who only starred in the first two movies,Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s StoneandHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, before he passed away in 2002, at the age of 72.
This past summer, fans in London got to watch Harry, Ron and Hermione’s return on the stage in the West End playHarry Potter and the Cursed Child, and fans everywhere will get to explore this universe 70 years before theHarry Potterfirst set foot inHogwartswithFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which hits theaters November 18. There had been rumors thatCursed Childwould be turned into a movie by Warner Bros., but those reports were quickly debunked.
Aside from these new movies and stage plays, theHarry Potterworld will live on in other ways. Pottermore recently released three newshort story collectionsthat delve even deeper into this wizarding world. We can’t imagine that there will ever be a sitcom set within the magical world ofHarry Potter, but this new video gives us a glimpse of what that may be like.
