If this summer’sAvengers: Age of Ultronwasn’t quite big enough for you, thenCaptain America: Civil Warcould just be the movie you’ve been waiting for. Not only does it feature almost all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, old and new (except for Thor and Hulk),Paul Ruddreturns as Scott Lang fromAnt-Man, withChadwick Bosemanmaking his debut asBlack Panther. One of the several returning characters isPaul Bettany’sVision, who became one of the new Avengers at the end of Avengers 2.Paul Bettanyheld a Q&A session at the AsiaPOP Comic Convention this weekend, revealing to thePhilippine Entertainment Portalthat Vision will be both “omnipotent” and “naive” inCaptain America: Civil War. Here’s what he had to say about his preparations for this new movie.

“I was given comics. I also was looking to think about what could be edifying for me to learn. I took the opportunity-you see my character get born… something unlikely to ever happen to me again. He must be both omnipotent and yet totally naive at the same time. And experiencing the world in real time and his place in it. Is he going to be a force of good or a force of evil? It was really interesting, fun to play with, because he is dangerous, you do not know if he’s going to go one way or another. And I’m continuing that theme in Captain America 3.”

The fans at AsiaPOP were also shownnew footagefromCaptain America: Civil War, which was different than the trailer shown at Disney’sD23 Expolast month. It’s unclear when this footage will be released online, but descriptions of the footage reveal that several of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be battling each other, with Vision taking on both Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), while Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) fights Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). When asked about the production itself,Paul BettanysaidCaptain America: Civil Warwas more fun than makingAvengers: Age of Ultron.

“It was a lot of work! We all had a bit more fun. You know, there were more improvised jokes between me and[Robert] Downey Jr., and me andChris Evans, and it was a really loose atmosphere on-set. It was one really loose set, it was great! I would totally lie to you if it wasn’t, but I don’t have to lie. And we all get on. They’re all a really nice bunch of boys and girls. They’re all happy to be there. They’re being terribly well-paid, so they should be happy to be there. And work’s really creative and fun, you know? I got to be born on camera, you know, that’s unlikely to ever happen again.”

WhileAvengers: Age of Ultronmarked the first timePaul Bettanyhas been seen on the big screen in the MCU, he’s been a fixture the since the beginning. He provided the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. inIron Man,Iron Man 2,Marvel’s The AvengersandIron Man 3before turning into Vision. The veteran actor revealed that working for Marvel means he can regularly count on work for the first time in his career.

“And also, as an actor, the other part of it is knowing that you have work in a year’s time. I’ve never had that. Do Jarvis, you should do Jarvis. No, find somebody else. Oh, I … It’s the first time in my life that I’ve had the security of knowing that I’ve got a couple of movies to make.”

However, when asked specifically how many more appearances he will make as the Vision, Bettany wouldn’t reveal how many more movies he has in hisMarvelcontract. It isn’t known when Vision may show up next, but he will most likely show up inAvengers: Infinity War Part I(July 06, 2025) andAvengers: Infinity War - Part II. There are a number of other movies he could appear in before that, but his officialMarvel Cinematic Universeschedule has not been confirmed at this time. What do you think about these new details?
