Last month, Showtime confirmed that production will begin in September on their highly-anticipatedTwin Peaksrevival series, although an exact date wasn’t given. Over the weekend,Welcome to Twin Peaksreported that theTV serieswill shoot in North Bend, Washington, and in surrounding cities such as Snoqualmie and Fall City in Washington State. North Bend is home to Twede’s Cafe, which was turned into the Double R Diner in the originalTwin Peaksseries, and a few local residents have shared some photos that show the series is in the midst of turning the cafe back into the Double R.

It isn’t known when the actual filming process will begin, but the report reveals that shooting in Washington will take place over a six-week period, before the production heads to Los Angeles. The show was initially slated to run nine episodes, but actressSherilyn Fennrevealed in May that the order was expanded to18 episodes. However, Showtime’s David Nevins revealed in August, after debuting the first poster, that an episode count has not been confirmed yet.

David Lynchwill direct every episode from one massive script he wrote withTwin Peaksco-creatorMark Frost. The writers actually wrote and will direct the series as one very long movie, which they will later cut into individual episodes. ActressSherilyn Fenn, who is also believed to return as Audrey Horne, told fans at a recent convention that the show has expanded from the original nine-episode order to 18. David Nevins confirmed that the show will likely run longer than the originally-planned nine episodes, but the exact number of episodes won’t be determined until filming is completed.

The original Twin Peaks, which ran for two seasons between 1990 and 1991, followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queenLaura Palmer(Sheryl Lee) is shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues.

In related news, actress Mädchen Amick also tweeted out a new photo, which revealed the Double R waitress costume worn by her character Shelly Johnson in the original series. As of now,Kyle MacLachlan(Special Agent Dale Cooper) is the only cast member to be officially confirmed, but it has been rumored that Mädchen Amick,Sheryl Lee,Sherilyn Fennand several other members of the original cast are slated to return. With filming about to begin, hopefully we’ll get confirmation on these cast members soon. In the meantime, check out the new photos from the Twin Peaks set in Washington.
