Jaume Collet-Serradirects The Shallows. He was first introduced to audiences with his 2005 remakeHouse of Wax. The past couple of years, he has become better known for his collaborations with action iconLiam Neeson. They first worked together on 2014’sNon-Stop, and reunited for last year’sRun All Night. They will next team-up forThe Commuter, which arrives in 2017. The filmmaker has also been connected to the long gestating live-actionAkiraadaptation set up at Warner Bros.
PerhapsJaume Collet-Serra’s most recognized directorial effort is 2009’sOrphan, whichshocked and surprisedaudiences with its terrifying ending. The movie is also noted for its intense storytelling and visual flair. All of which is evident in this first look at The Shallows. It’s possible that the director has created another classic in the genre.

Injured and stranded on an offshore buoy, she must overcome her initial attack and make it back to shore without getting munched on by one hungry shark. Anthony Jaswinski wrote The Shallows, a script that wound up on the coveted Black List. Weimaraner Republic Pictures partners Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem are producing.
