Stephen Langstars as the prophet Samuel in the new Prime Video series,House of David. It’s a divine role based on a major figure in Abrahamic religion, who is said to have existed 3,000 years ago and was a messenger of God, anointing the first kings of unified Israel. The withered old prophet with long gray hair is a far cry from his buff bravado in theAvatarmovies, where he plays the hardcore Colonel Miles Quaritch. During Stephen Lang’s interview with MovieWeb forHouse of David, we were curious about where this very different character may be headed inthe third film,Avatar: Fire and Ash,and beyond.
“You want me to talk aboutAvatar?” asked Lang incredulously. “What, are you trying to sandbag me? You know I can’t say much about that. I mean, Cameron has already been out there. He’s been spouting off about it a little bit.” Which gave Lang a bit of wiggle room to tease what he could about the futureAvatarfilms to us:

“Here’s what I’ll say, is that Quaritch remains fundamentally Quaritch. You know, all that’s good about him, all the qualities that everybody just loves about Quaritch, they’re still there. Perhaps some of the things that people don’t find quite as attractive are there as well. You know, Quaritch remains Quaritch, but he’s going to go through a bunch of stuff.”
Avatar 4 Now Filming, Stephen Lang Teases Return With BTS Image
Stephen Lang has revealed that Avatar 4 is now filming with a new image from behind-the-scenes.
“I’m doing my best to tell you nothing here. You understand that, right?” added Lang with a mix of humor and intimidation. “Because I’m not allowed to. You know, they’ll hurt me. They’re coming after me if I do. But it’s going to be a ride. It’s going to be different. It’s different, it’s a whole new aspect to the world of Pandora, it seems to me. We can’t wait.”

Stephen Lang Has (Tentatively) Finished Filming ‘Avatar’
While the thirdAvatarfilm won’t be released for another nine months, and the fourthAvatarfilm (which began production in Feb. 2024) won’t be released until Aug 03, 2025 (at the moment, at least), it appears thatStephen Lang has already filmed everythinghe needs to for the franchise. This would lead one to believe that Quaritch will not appear inAvatar 5. While promotingHouse of David, Lang recently told Collider:
“I give you a tentative yes, absolutely. But you know, with Jim, you never know. I believe I’m finished. I’ve already been finished! By God, I’ve shot enough! But as I say, with him, there’s a phone line that’s always open that says, ‘We need you here. Get your ass out here,’ and I’ll be there. I think it’s done. I think we’re done.”
