A brand new photo fromThe Mandalorianhas made its way online, and it brings Pedro Pascal face-to-face with some classicStar Warsaliens. This is going to be the first ever live-action TV series set within a galaxy far, far away. Disney and Lucasfilm finally, recently gave fans a first look in the form of a teaser trailer during D23. As the show’s premiere rapidly approaches, we’ve got this new image, which has the titular character doing battle with a couple of Trandoshans.

For those who may not know,Trandoshansare “reptilian humanoids, with slimy, scaled-skin. They have long arms and legs, and are known to be excellent hunters,” per the official database entry on StarWars.com. They hail from the planet of Trandosha and were first introduced to the franchise inThe Empire Strikes Back. It was a brief sequence, but a bounty hunter by the name of Bossk appeared and introduces us to these aliens. Trandoshans have since appeared in animated shows likeRebelsandThe Clone Wars, as well as games likeBossk. This photo is remarkable, as it almost looks like a high-budget version of an oldDoctor Whoepisode, only in theStar Warsuniverse. It’s another reminder that executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni put a lot of resources into practical effects for the series. Pedro Pascal, who playsThe Mandalorian, had this to say about his character, who largely remains a mystery.

“Ultimately he wants to do the right thing. But his duties could very much be in conflict with his destiny and doing the right thing has many faces. It can be a very windy road.”

The series centers on alone gunslinger who operates on the Outer Rim. The series takes place during the time afterReturn of the Jediand beforeThe Force Awakens, which is a time period that has largely remained unexplored in the world of live-action. Jon Favreau had this to say about the series.

“Our guy is operating in a much more unforgiving landscape. A place where survival is difficult enough, let alone flourishing in that atmosphere and the politics have dissolved. It’s ‘might is right.’ And how does somebody earn a living when there’s no structure to society anymore and everything is collapsing in on itself? How do you work your way through the world?”

Gina Carano (Deadpool), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods) Nick Nolte (Warrior) and the legendary Werner Herzog round out the cast. The Mandalorianwilldebut on Disney+ on November 12as a launch title with the service. Unlike Netflix, the episodes will be released one at a time, as opposed to a whole season all at once. Be sure to check out the new image below. This news comes to us viaEntertainment Weekly
