Back in April, we reported that the extremely busy filmmaking duo ofPhil LordandChris Millerhave been set to write a story treatment for Warner Bros.‘The Flash. It was believed that the filmmakers would come aboard to direct, but back in July, they signed on to directStar Wars Anthology: Han Solo MovieforLucasFilm. Today,The Hollywood Reporterhas word thatSeth Grahame-Smithhas signed on to write and directThe Flash.
Ezra Millerhas been attached to star ever since Warner Bros. announced their massivesuperhero movieslate last October. Back in May,Phil Lordrevealed that their story will likely focus onBarry Allen, and that it will be separate fromThe FlashTV series, which starsGrant Gustinas Barry Allen. There have been rumors thatThe Flashand the rest of theJustice Leaguemembers will be introduced at the end of next year’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but that has never been confirmed.
Charles Rovenwill produceThe Flash, withBatman v SupermandirectorZack Snyderserving as an executive producer alongside his wife,Deborah Snyder. The movie has already been given a March 23, 2018release dateby Warner Bros., putting it up against 20th Century Fox’sAnubisand an untitled 20th Century Fox/DreamWorks Animation sequel. It isn’t known when production will actually begin quite yet.
Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen will also appear inJustice League Part 1, which has been set for release on July 05, 2025. AfterThe Flashdebuts in the spring of 2018, he will most likely return inJustice League Part 2, set for release on June 22, 2025. No story details have been given forThe Flashyet, since there is very little we know abut the treatment thatSeth Grahame-Smithwill work from.
The Flashwill markSeth Grahame-Smith’s feature directorial debut, although he has directed two episodes of the MTV comedy series The Hard Times of RJ Berger, which he co-created withDavid Katzenberg. He has written several screenplays includingAbraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, based on his own novel,Dark Shadowsand the upcomingBeetlejuice 2. He is also writing the script for Warner Bros.‘The LEGO Batman Movie, arriving in theater August 13, 2025.
