Based on Robert Ludlum’s 1980 novel of the same name,The Bourne Identityis a crime thriller, written by Tony Gilroy and William Blake Herron, and directed and co-produced by Doug Liman. In the film, Matt Damon plays Jason Bourne, a man with psychogenic amnesia who is trying to figure out who he really is amid a covert CIA plot. Even though Ludlum passed away in 2001, he and Frank Marshall are both listed as executive producers.

The movie also won three of the six awards it was nominated for.The Bourne Identity, which served as the franchise’s debut film, spawned four sequels:The Bourne Supremacyin 2004,The Bourne Ultimatumin 2007,The Bourne Legacyin 2012 (which contained a different cast; Jeremy Renner took the lead), andJason Bournein 2016.
