If you’re waiting for a second season ofThe Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, you’ll be waiting forever. After the show debuted its 8-episode premiere season in October, it has been decided two months later thatNetflixwon’t be moving forward with season 2. The news was broken by series creator Joe Barton, who took to Twitter to apologize to the show’s fans that he wasn’t able to finish the story that he sought to tell with a cast and crew he’s “very proud” of.“Sadly, yes, Netflix have cancelled this,” Barton says. “Very proud of it and really liked the people I got to make it with. Sorry not to be able to finish the story…”
Barton is responding to aseparate post from Imaginarium,the production company behind the show, which similarly expressed disappointment over the cancelation. The company also praises the cast and shares images of the show’s critical scores, which landed very well with both critics and viewers alike. It sits at 93% on the Tomatometer at Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score of 92%.

“Half Badis a show we are incredibly proud of, which gained stellar reviews, along with a fiercely loyal global fanbase,” reads the original tweet. “While we are disappointed not to continue the story, we have loved working with such a talented cast and crew on bringing our beloved show to life.”
