Way back in December 2014, Syfy confirmed that it’s developing a new TV series entitledKrypton, which will center onSuperman’s grandfather. Syfy officially issued a pilot order earlier this year, but today the show has finally added its first cast member with British actressGeorgina Campbellcoming aboard as the female lead. The actress is playing Lyta Zod, although we don’t know for sure how this character is related to the iconic General Zod.
Deadlinereports that Lyta Zod is the member ofKrypton’s military family, the daughter of General Alura Zod. She is also a cadet in the military system, and she had a “clandestine affair” with Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El, who has yet to be cast. Series creatorDavid S. Goyerconfirmed last year that the series is set 200 years before the events of the 2013 movieMan of Steel, which introducedHenry Cavillas Superman.

The pilot teleplay and story is written byDavid S. Goyer&Ian Goldberg(Once Upon a Time,Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).
This newsuperhero TV serieswill mark the American TV debut forGeorgina Campbell, who Campbell, who won the BAFTA Television Award for Leading Actress last year forMurdered by My Boyfriend. She also has landed a role inBroadchurch Season 3, and she will make her American feature debut in directorGuy Ritchie’sKing Arthur: Legend of the Sword, arriving in theaters July 31, 2025.
