‘Street Fighter’ Will Have “Amazing, Awesome” Fight Sequences

BeforeBad Trip’s Kitao Sakurai signed on to directStreet Fighter, Legendary recruited the filmmakers behindTalk to Me, Danny and Michael Philippou. Due to scheduling conflicts withBring Her Back(among other horror films in the pipeline), the Philippou brothers had to depart the video game adaptation. However, they were chugging along the development process quite well, including designing what they havedescribed as an action-packed film. The directors might not be involved with the movie anymore, but there is still a good chance that the film features some of the “amazing” set pieces that the directors had previously worked on.

“We were so excited for Street Fighter. We were in the rabbit hole for Street Fighter and creating set pieces. These amazing, awesome set pieces, because we had the resources to be able to do it. Everything we pitched to Legendary, like, ‘What we’re thinking is this,’ they would say ‘Yep.’ The things that we wanted to do, and having it so action-based… they were all for it. It just sucks. It was just scheduling. It didn’t line up, which is so unfortunate.”
