Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, the firstStar Warsspinoff, is starting to take shape, with a growing cast that includesFelicity Jones,Riz Ahmed,Sam Claflin,Diego Luna, andForest Whitakeralready set to star. The story has been confirmed to center on a band of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans, but there is still very little we know about what roles these actors are playing. Today onMeet the Movie Press, El Mayimbe dropped a new rumor that revealsFelicity Jonesis playing the daughter of Boba Fett.
El Mayimbe himself even stated that this piece of information is a rumor which has not been confirmed, so it could turn out to be completely false. Then again,Boba Fetthas long been rumored to have some sort of presence in this spinoff, so it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that one of the big stars is playing the bounty hunter’s daughter. SinceFelicity Joneswas the first actress confirmed forRogue One, many assumed that her character would be the leader of this team that tries to steal theDeath Starplans, which still may be the case, even if she is Boba Fett’s daughter.
Production is about to begin very shortly, with producerKathleen Kennedyrevealing inHall HofComic-Conthat shooting will begin in three weeks on this spinoff, a statement which was made exactly three weeks ago today. If production does start within the next few days, hopefully we’ll get confirmation on whoFelicity Jones' character really is. It has long been rumored thatBen Mendelsohnis the primary villain, but we know nothing about his character, or any of the other roles as well.
Gareth Edwardsis directing from a script originally written byGary Whitta, withChris Weitzproviding a rewrite. Shooting is slated to take place at Pinewood Studios in London, and a rumor that surfaced just before SDCC claimed that shooting had already started, with a shoot that involved a ship landing in the jungle. Of course, that report was never confirmed, but production should start soon, regardless.
