Details onStar Wars: Episode VIIIhave been incredibly scarce, so at this point fans will take what they can get. At the moment we know as much aboutLuke Skywalkeras we did at the end ofStar Wars: The Force Awakens, which is just about nothing, other than the fact that he has been a recluse for some time. Now, we may finally know a little something more. We may have a good idea of what the famed Jedi looks like in this next chapter of theStar Warssaga.

The ever reliable fan siteMaking Star Warsgot a description of Luke Skywalker inStar Wars 8. They recently commissioned an artist by the name of Lumberjack Nick, who regularly does renditions for the site, to do one of Luke using the leaked description. The result is nothing if not interesting. The scene that was used in order to make the drawing has to do with Rey being frustrated with Luke during herJeditraining, so Rey is in the drawing as well.

Luke Skywalker Star Wars 8 Costume

As opposed to the tan and white Jedi robes Luke was sporting at the end ofThe Force Awakens, this new costume looks much more like the black costume he was wearing during the majority ofStar Wars: Return of the Jedi. Also, it doesn’t appear as though he has a belt or anywhere on his costume to carry a lightsaber, which is pretty interesting. Making Star Wars noted that no such item was included in the description they were working from, so it is possible that Luke may not be carrying around his lightsaber in the movie. Or thedescriptionwas wrong. Or he just didn’t have it on for that scene. There are a lot of possibilities, so all we can do is speculate. He is, however, holding a spear or a walking stick of some kind. Also, Luke’s robotic hand is visible, but that was an artistic choice, so that may not be the case when the movie comes out.

Disney purchased all of Lucasfilm back in 2012 for more than $4 billion, primarily so that they could make a ton ofnew Star Wars moviesover the next who knows how many years. In the four years since the studio made the purchase, we have seen only about a minute of Luke Skywalker on screen at the end ofStar Wars: The Force Awakens. Heading intoStar Wars: Episode VIII, Luke Skywalker is probably the number one thing fans want to see on screen so anything having to do with him at this point is a big deal.

The Last Jedi

As of right now very little is known aboutRian Johnson’s follow up toStar Wars: The Force Awakens. We haven’t even been given an official title yet. Disney is clearly focusing heavily onRogue One: A Star Wars Storyright now, so it seems like we will likely be learning a lot Wars: Episode VIIIafter that movie hits theaters. Maybe we will even see a teaser before Rogue One? We’ll have to wait and see. For now, you can check out the picture of Luke for yourself below.Star Wars: Episode VIIIis set for release on July 24, 2025.
