Creedis an interesting reboot of theRockylegacy in that it is not bringing in a new actor to continue playing theItalian Stallionimmortalized bySylvester Stallone. Instead, it is introducing the son of Apollo Creed in setting up it’s own mythology withMichael B. Jordanstepping in to take over the franchise, while allowing Rocky Balboa to still exist in this universe. That might not be possible with Rambo, who was first introduced in 1982. Especially ifSylvester Stallonekills off the character. There are plenty of missions we didn’t get to seeJohn Rambogo on throughout the years, so a complete reboot isn’t out of the question. But who would take on such an iconic role?
In an interview conducted while doing press forCreed,Sylvester Stallone, considering the question seriously, didn’t hesitate to answer. IfRambogets a reboot, he wantsDriveactorRyan Goslingto strap on the red headband next. And while that might seem a little far fetched, it actually makes sense. AsRyan Goslingis a little bit more like the Rambo in the original books than he is in the movie. Theaction legendmust have been proud of his answer, as he shared the interview excerpt on his ownTwitterpage.
So, what doesRyan Goslingthink of this idea?Cinema Blendwas on hand to talk with the actor recently for his surprising turn in the upcoming movieThe Big Short. At first, the actor is hesitant to even believe the journalist posing the question. While he doesn’t say he would ever consider playing Rambo, he does have some very nice things to say aboutSylvester Stallone.
“That Would be incredible. He is one of my favorite actors. The fact that he knows my name is exciting. He’s the best. I’m genuinely touched that the said that. If you’re lying you’re an awful person.”
A straight up Rambo reboot probably won’t happen anytime soon, soRyan Goslingstill has time to get physically ready for the role. As evident in anotherTwittersent out bySylvester Stallone, he confirms that he is currently writing theRambo 5screenplay, which is tentatively calledRambo: Last Blood. The legendary action icon has every intention of playing John Rambo at least one more time. But if he were to call it quits, only to come back and direct the Rambo reboot himself, we’re betting most fans would be on board.
It isn’t known whenRambo: Last Bloodwill begin shooting. The Expendables 4has already been confirmed to shoot in 2016, and will be in theaters in 2017. Is it possible thatSylvester Stallonewill attempt twoaction epicsin one year? Or will the next Rambo adventure simply be put on the back burner until 2017? There’s also the question of when anotherCreedmovie might happen, though there is a possibility thatSylvester Stallonewon’t come back for that one. What do you guys think? Here’s the tweets in question and interviews in question.
