Spider-Man: No Way Homebecame a huge Marvel Cinematic Universe event when it was released in 2021. Not only did the film embrace the multiverse potential, but also brought back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as well as several key villains from their respective Spider-Man movies. Among those making an appearance wasSpider-Man 3’s Sandman, played byThomas Haden Church. Although the actor only ended up providing some new dialogue for the movie, Church has discussed the possibility of Sandman returning in another movie.
Currently, there are plenty of rumors starting to circulate about what Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man movie could look like. Having reached a new pinnacle withSpider-Man: No Way Home, it is going to be hard to beat the reaction the film received due to its nostalgic returns, but potentially dipping into its older characters while the multiverse is still an option could mean we see Sandman put in an appearance. Church toldThe DisInsider:

“We had a whole story involving his daughter for No Way Home, and it just ended up [cut]. There was just so much going on… Amy [Pascal] and Kevin [Feige], we all had a lot of conversations. And I would say that conversations have been had about the possibility of Sandman coming into a future iteration of it. The conversation has happened about him coming back, and maybe picking up a more fulfilling story.”
Church joins fellowNo Way Homereturnee Willem Dafoe, who has also said he would be happy to slip into the guise of Green Goblin again if the circumstances were right. As long as the multiverse allows it, there are endless possibilities for who could appear in another Spider-Man adventure.

Spider-Man is A Long Way from Done in the MCU
When it comes to bankable superheros, DC have Superman and Batman, while Marvel haveSpider-Man, one of the most marketed characters ever. For that reason it is very hard to imagine that the character is going to be allowed to rest for too long before making his return to the MCU again. Of course, while fans wait of the next installment of Tom Holland’s return, animated movieSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Versewill be released this June, withSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versecoming in 2024.
While the animated movies have their fans, there is nothing like a good live-action Spider-Man film. Currently though, there is no Spider-Man movie on the upcoming Marvel slate, although there are a number of gaps still to be filled in the schedule and rumors have already began as to whether one of these could be the next Spider-Man movie. Marvel Studios have appeared to be under a lot of pressure recently regarding their excessive volume of movies planned in the coming years. While Spider-Man is also the concern of Sony, it is yet to be seen where and when a new Spider-Man movie will fit into the Marvel timeline, but for many fans it can never be too soon for another Spider-Man appearance.
