It’s been almost 10 years since the end ofSons of Anarchy, the critically acclaimed FX series starring Charlie Hunnam. The franchise continued thanks toMayans MC, the spin-off series centered on another group of bikers with J.D. Pardo as the main star. Unfortunately, the new series will come to anend with its next and fifth installment, but it might not be the end of the franchise.

During a panel presentation of his new project (viaDeadline),Emily the Criminal,Sons of Anarchystar Theo Rossi revealed that they might be cooking up something series-related with Hunnam’s surprise return:

SOA and Mayans

“There might be something coming up where we’re all back together, which is insane. Charlie [Hunnam]’s gonna announce something soon. If it happens, it’s wild, but if it doesn’t it would be perfect and really cool because we also talk every day.”

Although there have been several rumors about the franchise’s future, it would be strange to think of Hunnam’s return, considering that his character dies in the series ending. In any case, they could opt for a prequel series that would tell the character’s origins or some other spin-off with Charlie as a producer.

What Will Happen in Mayans MC Final Season?

Mayans M.C.takes place two-and-a-half years after the events ofSons of Anarchyand is set hundreds of miles away in the fictional California border town of Santo Padre. The series focuses on the struggles of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, a prospect in the charter of the Mayans M.C. based on the U.S.–Mexico border. EZ is the gifted son of a proud Mexican family whose American dream was snuffed out by cartel violence. Now, his need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended and can never escape.

The Season 4 finale saw the M.C. mourn the loss of their brother Coco (Richard Cabral), who was killed in battle. Then, connecting to Sons of Anarchy, Meth Mountain’s Isaac Packer’s (JR Bourne) reaper tattoo was finally explained. He is the younger brother of Les Packer (Robert Patrick), President of SAMCRO’s San Bernardino chapter, who had been undergoing cancer treatment.

When the series returns, Santo Padre will have a new leader in EZ (Pardo). Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) tried to restore peace between SAMCRO and Santo Padre, but EZ and his brothers didn’t care. This could set up the ultimateSons of AnarchyandMayans M.C.crossover as the spin-off comes to an end.
