Earlier tonight,Seth Rogenreturned toComic-Conto show fans his new animated movieSausage Party, which is set to hit theaters on August 12. Fans who attended the panel were also treated to an early screening of the full movie, but for those who weren’t in San Diego, they also released a new red band trailer. As you can see in this trailer,Sausage Partyis not your typical animated movie.
Sausage Party, the firstR-ratedCG animated movie, is about one sausage leading a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery store. The film features the vocal talents of a who’s who of today’s comedy stars -Seth Rogen,Kristen Wiig,Jonah Hill,Bill Hader,Michael Cera,James Franco,Danny McBride,Craig Robinson,Paul Rudd,Nick Kroll,David Krumholtz,Edward NortonandSalma Hayek. This new trailer debuted onYouTubeshortly after the Comic-Con panel.
This latest sneak peek brings new footage, and all of it is downright terrifying for thesegrocery storeitems. While the R-rated animated adventure is being sold as an ‘adults only’ animated comedy, it surely appears to be equal parts horror movie as well. Of course, since this is a red band trailer, there will be plenty of R-rated language below, so watch at your own risk.
ProducersSeth RogenandEvan Goldbergare also responsible for writing the script for the film, their first attempt at doing a full-length animated feature. The duo previously penned the script for teen classicSuperbadand dope adventurePineapple Express. They made their directorial debut with 2014’sThis is the End, and directed the pilot for AMC’s summer seriesPreacher, which has already been renewed for a Second season.
