Swift, who cast Sink as the “lovestruck, then lovelorn” leading lady in herAll Too Well: The Short Filmlast fall, gushed toEntertainment Weeklyabout the young powerhouse’s “versatility and emotional dexterity” inThe Whale.
Sharing a piece she wrote honoring Sink for EW’s 2022 Entertainers of the Year series, Swift applauded her emotional performance in the fourth season ofStranger Thingsand said that the actress is constantly amazing her, whether it be on the big or small screen.
“She continued to show audiences this level of versatility and emotional dexterity, next rising to the challenge of playing Brendan Fraser’s complex and defiant estranged daughter Ellie in Darren Aronofsky’sThe Whale. Ellie is a character for whom years of rejection and confusion has calcified into rage, and Sadie threaded the needle with the exact attention to detail such tumult calls for,” she writes, adding that even the film’s director had nothing but positive things to say about Sink.
