There are always a slew of rumors swirling around anyStar Warsmovie, but back in May, one such rumor claimed that the firstStar Warsspin-off,Rogue One, was in “trouble,” as the studio prepared for supposedly “extensive” reshoots. Stars such asFelicity Joneslaughed off the rumors, reassuring fans the project wasn’t in “trouble”. It was revealed thatTony Gilroy, who wrote the original Jason Bourne trilogy, came aboard to rewrite the script during reshoots, while also serving as the second unit director. Today a new report has surfaced that claims the filmmaker will be handsomely paid for his efforts, to the tune of $5 million.

The Hollywood Reporterreveals thatTony Gilroywas first paid a sum of $200,000 a week to help write new dialogue and scenes for theRogue One reshoots. That sum is said to be a “normal figure” for an in-demand writer working on a major studio tentpole film. However, his role on the project continued to expand, which lead to his paycheck ballooning to upwards of $5 million.Tony Gilroystarted work on the reshoots in June, but his role expanded as the spin-off entered post-production.

A report from August revealed that the reshoots had wrapped, whileTony Gilroy’s involvement was clarified. The initial report revealed thatTony Gilroywas supervising the edit, which was confirmed in this report, which also reveals that the reshoots tackled a number of different issues with the film, including giving the standalone adventure a new ending. It’s worth noting thatTony Gilroynow has a shared screenplay credit on the film withChris Weitz, withGary WhittaandJohn Knollreceiving story credit.

This report comes just hours after it was revealed thatRogue Onehadwrapped post-production, news which came via ILM visual effects artistTodd Vaziri, who tweeted out a meme featuring Admiral Ackbar, with the text reading “It’s a wrap,” instead of his iconic line, “It’s a trap” fromReturn of the Jedi. For those seeking even more new footage before the December 16 release date, Disney and People Magazine will be hosting an event that will stream live on Twitter Friday, December 2nd at 10 AM PT.
