Last week, during NBC’s Olympic coverage, Lucasfilm debuted anew trailerfor the highly-anticipatedRogue One: A Star Wars Story, the firstStar Warsspin-off that is set to hit theaters nationwide December 16. With just under four months left until this new story set in a galaxy far, far away hits theaters, it remains to be seen how much more footage will be unveiled, but today we have the latest Empire Magazine cover. This image features four of the spin-off’s human stars, plus the latest lovable droid in theStar WarsUniverse.

ThisEmpirecover features a closer look atJyn Erso(Felicity Jones), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Baze Malbus (Wiang Jen) and Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen). The cover also features another look at the droid K-2SO, voiced and performed through motion capture byAlan Tudyk. This cover image also puts into perspective just how much this droid towers over his human companions.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Empire Magazine Cover

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films,Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to theDeath Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

The cast also incudesMads Mikkelsenas Jyn’s father, Galen,Ben Mendelsohnas the villainous Director Orson Krennic andForest WhitakerasStar Wars: The Clone Warscharacter Saw Gerrera. It was also recently confirmed thatJimmy Smitswill reprise his prequel trilogy role as Bail Organa, although, unfortunately, no details have been revealed about how he fits into the story. LucasFilm will releaseRogue Oneon December 16, where it will go up against New Line’sCollateral BeautystarringWill SmithandEdward Norton.

We reported earlier this month thatRogue One reshootsrecently wrapped, with directorGareth Edwardsworking from a revised script byTony Gilroy(Bournetrilogy), who also served as second unit director and is “supervising” the edit, alongsideGareth Edwards. While there were rumors thatTony Gilroywas completely taking over as the director during the reshoots, sources claim that he has been collaborating withGareth Edwards, who is still very much involved in the film.
