Starring Academy Award-nomineeJake Gyllenhaaland rebooting the beloved 80s action outingRoad House, it has now been confirmed that the upcoming sequel will bring a former MCU star, and real-life fighter, into the fray.
Following much rumor and speculation,Guardians of the GalaxyandDunestarDave Bautistawill face off with Gyllenhaal inRoad House 2. The actor, who is also known forthe likes ofBlade Runner 2049, Army of the Dead, Knock at the Cabin, and more, as well as his tenure as both a WWE superstar and a stint in MMA, is reportedly “circling” the action movie follow-up, according toDeadline.

Released last year and directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) from a screenplay written by Anthony Bagarozzi (The Nice Guys) and Charles Mondry (Doc Savage), the firstRoad Housereboots the Patrick Swayze-led 80s classic andstars Jake Gyllenhaal as Elwood Daltonalongside the now highly controversial UFC champion fighter Conor McGregor, with Billy Magnussen (The Many Saints of Newark), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of Their Own), Lukas Gage (Euphoria), Hannah Love Lanier (The Tiny Mighty Club), Travis Van Winkle (You), B.K. Cannon (Why Women Kill), Arturo Castro (The Terminal List), Dominique Columbus (Ray Donovan), Beau Knapp (The Lost Symbol), and Bob Menery (Billions) making up the rest of the cast.
Despite mixedreviews from both critics and audiences alike, the action remake was a huge hit for Amazon and Prime Video when it landed on the streamer back in March last year. The action movie attracted a record-breaking 50 million worldwide viewers over its first two weekends which, according to the studio, makingRoad Housethe “most-watched produced film debut ever on a worldwide basis” at the time.Road House 2will see Jake Gyllenhaal return as the best “cooler” in the Florida Keys, Dalton, with the follow-up now set to behelmed byNobodydirector lya Naishullerafter Guy Ritchie dropped out.

While the report does not state that Bautista will play the villain, this seems like a sure bet, as the former MCU star would make the perfect replacement for previous baddie Conor McGregor, with the franchise likely looking to distance itself from the MMA fighter after he was found guilty of sexual assault last year. His addition to the action-packed world ofRoad Houseas a villain would make Dave Bautista the Amazon bad guy of the hour, as theGuardians of the Galaxystar has also now signed on to play the villainous immortalThe Kurgan in Amazon MGM Studios’ long-awaitedHighlanderreboot. The reboot will see Bautista cross swords with former Man of Steel Henry Cavill as the titular hero, withJohn Wick’sChad Stahelski set to direct the project.
