In the first season ofThe Rings of Power,we watched as Halbrand, Galadriel, and Celebrimbor made history in the world of Middle-Earth as they began to forge the legendary rings from Tolkien’sLord of the Ringsseries. The season ended with the three rings for the Elf Lords complete, but as we all know, many more rings are yet to come. According to Tolkien’sLord of the Rings, seven rings are made for the Dwarves and nine for the Humans. Then, of course, there is the One Ring for Sauron himself, for a total of twenty rings. In a twist of events, it is revealed at the end of season one that Halbrand is, in fact, the infamous villain Sauron.
At an FYC event in Los Angeles, Galadriel actress Morfydd Clark confirmed thatseason 2 would see more ringsmade and revealed Galadriel herself would take one of the rings for herself in her mission to defeat Sauron. The other two Elven rings will be worn by King Gil-Galad and a new character to be introduced in season two, Cirdan the Shipwright. With this teaser in mind, let’s explore what we might see in season two with the creation of more rings.

What Rings Will Be Made in Season 2?
The next set of rings to be made in season 2 will be for either the Dwarf Lords or the Kings of Men. While we don’t know for certain how many new rings will be made or who exactly they will go to, we can certainly speculate that if anyone were next in line to receive rings, it would be Elrond’s good friend Durin or perhaps his father the King of the Dwarves Durin the third. We have yet to meet the rest of the Dwarf Lords, but perhaps season 2 will introduce others that will be bestowed Rings of Power.
According to the lore of theLOTRseries, Celebrimbor’s nineteen rings were locked away in a safe in Eregion. Sauron, however, was able to steal sixteen of them and gave nine to the Kings of Men. With the Elves already possessing their three rings from thefirst season ofRings of Power,we might see Sauron attempt to take the next ones that are made. Or perhaps even use the promise of their power to entice men and dwarves to his cause. The nine Kings given rings by Sauron become corrupted and influenced by power, transforming into Sauron’s servants known as the Nazgul. In season 2, we might see Sauron laying the groundwork for his rise to power while Celebrimbor continues to forge new rings.

Then, of course, we know that Sauron forges in secret his own ring, the One Ring to rule them all. The very same ring thatFrodo and Sam risk their livesto destroy hundreds of years later. The Rings of Powerseason two will very likely feature Halbrand’s journey into Mordor, and more specifically, Mount Doom, where he will begin to create the legendary One Ring.

Galadriel Embraces New Power
Clark also revealed that her character Galadriel would bewearing one of the three ringsforged in the first season. This begs the question, what effect will wearing a ring have on Galadriel? Before the creation of the One Ring, it is unlikely that Sauron will be able to exert his influence over Galadriel through the ring, so what will happen when she puts it on? What kind of power will the rings bring to those who wear them prior to Sauron’s One Ring? The Rings of Powerseason two will be able to dive headfirst into answering this question and exploring what kind of power these characters will obtain from the rings without the influence and suggestion of Sauron.
We will also get the chance to see how this type of power might change Galadriel as a character. While the Elves seem less corruptible by power than the Humans of Middle Earth, we wonder whether the power Galadriel obtains will change or challenge her will. Especially in her mission to defeat Sauron, it seems likely to aid her and strengthen her resolve.

However, the taste of power for a long period of time can negatively impact anyone. And if we see Sauron create the One Ring in season two, that could pose another challenge for Galadriel if he can connect with her through the Rings and perhaps attempt to dissuade her desire to stop him. Instead, he could use the connection of the rings of power and their previous history to seduce her to his side and weaken her resolve. With a myriad of possibilities ahead, we look forward towhat is to come in season 2ofThe Rings of Power.
