One of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made is finding new success on the streaming charts, 32 years after it was first released in theaters. There are some movies that change the course of cinema forever, and the film in question is undeniably one of them. Released in 1993, it is often lauded as one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made. It also went on to inspire a generation of filmmakers and spawned several (progressively worse) sequels, as well as a reboot/revival franchise (which is also nothing to write home about). The movie won three Oscars the year after its release and is ranked as the 139th best movie of all time on IMDb. Directed by none other than Steven Spielberg,Jurassic Parkis the movie in question, and fans of the classic sci-fi blockbuster have pushed it up the streaming charts.

Spielberg’sJurassic Parkshould need no introduction. It propelled the careers of its all-star cast, which included Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Wayne Knight, and Samuel L. Jackson, and proved whySteven Spielberg is one of the greatest filmmakers to ever do it.The story is adapted from Michael Crichton’s hit novel of the same name, although David Koepp’s script made some big changes to the source material. The official synopsis reads:

Jurassic World Rebirth

“An industrialist invites some experts to visit his theme park of cloned dinosaurs. After a power failure, the creatures run loose, putting everyone’s lives, including his grandchildren’s, in danger.”

What’s Next for the ‘Jurassic Park’ Franchise?

33 years later, and theJurassic Parkfranchise is still going (mostly) strong. The franchise remains a big draw at the box office. The recentJurassic World: Rebirthgrossed just over $800 millionduring its theatrical run. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One), the film also featured a stacked cast, which included Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and Ed Skrein.

WithJurassic World: Rebirthcontinuing theJurassic Worldsequel franchise’s box office domination, expect many more sequels to be greenlit in the future. At the time of writing, the franchise’s future remains uncertain. Despite the new film’s box office run coming to a very strong end, Universal has yet to announce whether any of the surviving characters will return for another outing in the dinosaur-filled world. IfanotherJurassic Worldfilm is being produced,we hope it stays away from the theme park setting, because how were those theme parks insured in the first place, let alone after multiple dinosaur breakouts?!
