Just a few weeks afterComic-Con, Disney announced their full schedule for theD23 Convention, which takes place this weekend in Anaheim, California. The studio’s highly-anticipatedStar Wars: The Force Awakensis one of the movies that will be presented during the studio’s live-action movie presentation, which lead most fans to believe that some sort of new footage will be put on display during this panel. As it turns out, though, that isn’t the case, with directorJ.J. Abramsrevealing toEntertainment Weeklythat there are no plans to show any trailers, clips or behind-the-scenes footage fromStar Wars: The Force Awakens.

“It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise. In the fall, there’ll be a trailer. We’re thrilled to go to D23 and meet the fans, but it’s a tricky thing to try and rush [footage] for a convention or preexisting event that would, of course, be fun to show something at.”

Just before SDCC, the director revealed that they weren’t showing a trailer during the event, but they showed fans abehind-the-scenes videothat went inside the production. The filmmakers confirmed during the panel that the next trailer will debut in the fall, although they failed to give a specific release date. That video not only gave us our first look atCarrie Fisherin full costume, but confirmed thatJ.J. Abrams' longtime friendSimon Peggdoes indeed have some sort of a role inStar Wars 7. Since there will be no footage on display, it’s possible, though, that the filmmakers could use the D23 convention to reveal the first official poster.

You may recall, way back in December 2014, a rumor surfaced that legendary poster artistDrew Struzanwas planning on coming out of retirement to create the posters forStar Wars: The Force Awakens. That report was never confirmed, butDrew Struzandid come out of retirement earlier this year to create a special poster for the documentaryBatkid Begins. We have no confirmation about whether or not Disney plans on debuting theStar Wars: The Force Awakensposter, but it could very well be something to keep an eye out for. When asked about how the post-production process was coming along,J.J. Abramsdid have this to say.

“I’m still editing and we’re working on refining the cut, but it’s incredibly fun to see the movie come together. You realize certain things that you don’t need, certain things you may pull out.”
