It has been more than a decade sincePeter Jacksonunleashed his version ofKing Kongon moviegoers and while it is not generally considered to be a bad movie, it is a bit slow and definitely had some issues. Legendary Pictures is getting ready to reintroduce the legendary ape next month and this time around, it looks to be a pure, action-packed monster adventure. With the release ofKong: Skull Islandless than a month away, a new trailer is set to be released tomorrow and we already have a little glimpse at what’s to come.
The officialTwitteraccount forKong: Skull Islandreleased a brief but loaded-with-monster-action tease for the upcoming trailer. It was also announced that a brand new and likely final trailer would be arriving online tomorrow. If this brief tease is any indication, we are in for a whole lot ofKing Kingduking it out with other beasts.

Universal and Legendary Pictures have bigger plans for this new version ofKing Kongin the future. He is going to be part of theirMonsterVerse, which also includes 2014’sGodzilla. The two monsters are set to duke it out once again on the big screen inGodzilla Vs. Kongin 2020. WhileKong: Skull Islandtakes place in the 1970s, it has already been revealed that the movie has some connective tissue toGodzilla, with the Monarch Corporation having a presence in both movies. Even though this movie will ultimately connect to a larger universe, it does also seem like it is going to try and stand on its own merits.
In recent years, March has become a much more competitive month and in many ways is really the start of the summer movie season, despite the fact that it isn’t actually summer. This year is no different. Just a week beforeKong: Skull Islanddrops, Fox is releasingLogan, which has been gettingrave reviews. The following week, Disney is going to be releasing their live-actionBeauty and the Beast, which is currently tracking for a massive opening weekend. The weekend of the 24th will also see some other big releases, with thePower Rangersreboot set to debut, as well as the sci-fi/thrillerLifeand the R-ratedChipsreboot. SoKongis going to be facing some very stiff competition.
