Dwayne Johnson is easily the busiest man in showbusiness. He just goes from one movie set to the next and collects another pile of money to add to his already ridiculous pile of money, which he’s earned every cent of, no doubt. Somehow, in between making blockbuster after blockbuster, he’s found some time to make a hit TV show in the form ofBallerson HBO. The series is about to enter its third season and it really is going for the “bigger is better” thing. The new trailer forBallersseason 3 reveals that The Rock is trying to take the NFL to Las Vegas.
The HBO YouTube channel unveiled this second trailer forBallers season 3, which brings back Spencer Strasmore (Dwayne Johnson}, Joe (Rob Corddry) and Mr. Anderson (Richard Schiff) who are looking to go very big or go home. The trio managed topatch things up at the end of Ballers season 2, after a pretty rocky, if you’ll pardon the pun, season that saw Spencer hit some pretty serious bumps in the road. Now the gang is trying to get an NFL team to set up shop in Las Vegas, which is going to mean a lot of money, a lot of probably shady deals and, if the trailer is to be believed, lots of barely dressed women.
The trailer focuses heavily on what will be the main plot ofBallersseason 3, but those who have watched the show for the past couple of seasons know that there are some loose ends that need to be tied up. What is going on with Ricky (John Washington)? Did Charles (Omar Miller) take that promotion?) Since they can both be seen in the trailer, we know they didn’t just drop off the face of the Earth, but it gives us no indication as to what they did about their respective situations. But let’s all be honest, The Rock is the main reason people are tuning into this spiritual successor toEntourage.
What is possibly most interesting about this season ofBallersis that it will be mirroring what is actually going on in theNFLcurrently. Recently, the NFL approved for the Oakland Raiders to relocate to Las Vegas, so the city will actually be getting a football team after years of talking about it. Even thoughBallersdoesn’t actually tackle real-life football happenings in a truthful way, it does do a good job of showing a seemingly authentic side of the business most fans don’t get to see. Getting to explore the process of getting a city a new team should be entertaining at the very least.
Ballershas been a huge hit for HBO, butDwayne Johnsonis a busy man. Can his schedule continue to accommodate 10 new episodes of a show every year? We shall see. But for now, we know thatBallersseason 3 is set to premiere on July 23 at 10 p.m. on HBO. Be sure to check out the first trailer forBallersseason 3 for yourself below.
