The Perfect Find: The Plot
The Perfect Findis based on Tia Williams’s novel of the same name, published in 2016. Jenna Jones was a former fashion designer with an amazing life. Now at forty years old, she is fired from Darling Magazine, and her long-time fiancé broke up with her. She begs for a job from her rival Darcy Vale, the publisher of StyleZine.com.
Darcy agrees since she needs someoneknowledgeable in the fashion world. However, Jenna realizes that she bit off more than she can chew. She lies about still being a big-shot fashion designer, is not digitally savvy (she barely knows how to use social media like Twitter), and works with people half her age. On top of all of that, she is extremely attracted to her twenty-two-year-old videographer Eric Combs. She knows she shouldn’t be with him, but she finds herself unable to resist him.

Gabrielle Union will be the protagonist of this upcoming rom-com. Known for her roles as Isis inBring It Onand Sydney “Syd” Burnett inBad Boys 2, Union will be playing the role of Jenna Jones in this film. She will also be a producer for this film with the help of her production company “I’ll have another”.
Joining alongside Union is Keith Powers, best known for roles such as Tyree inStraight Outta Comptonand Todd Archer in the TV miniseriesWhat/If. He will play Eric Combs in this movie. Past interviews with them saythe two actors have great chemistryboth on and off-set.
Gina Torres will take on the role of Darcy Vale, Jenna’s rival both in the fashion industry and old enemies in school. Torres has been in a multitude of projects, from Jessica Pearson in the TV seriesSuitsto Cas inThe Matrix RevolutionsandThe Matrix Reloaded.
Other familiar faces will join the cast of this romantic comedy. We have D.B. Woodside (Amenadiel inLuciferand Robin Wood inBuffy the Vampire Slayer) as Brian. The Perfect Find: Release Date
This film will be part of Netflix’ssummer 2023 lineup. The service has confirmed that the initial release date forThe Perfect Findis June 23, and it will be released globally.

The Perfect Find: Everything Else We Know
The filming production forThe Perfect Findstarted on July 17, 2025, and lasted only seven weeks. Production officially ended on August 15, 2025. Most of the filming took place in New York City. Photos of the film production show off recognizable landmarks in New York, including the Manhattan Bridge, Pennsylvania Station, and other locations such as Harlem.
Emmy nominee Niecy Nash was also supposed to star in this romantic comedy as Darcy Vale. We have seen Nash in a variety of roles, from Deputy Raineesha Williams in the 2003 showReno 911!and Denise Hemphill in the showScream Queens. Nash is also a popular comedian, so she would have been perfect for taking on a romantic comedy. Unfortunately, shehad to be recastdue to scheduling issues.
