Ever since beloved actorNeil Patrick Harriswas cast asCount Olafin Netflix’sA Series of Unfortunate Events, fans have been curious about what the actor will look like in full costume. Now that production is under way in Vancouver, the first set photos have arrived, and fans may have to do a double-take, because NPH is barely recognizable as the nefarious Count Olaf. Filming has been under way all this month, but today is the first time we’ve gotten to see the actor on set.

VanCity Buzz reports that the scene involvesNeil Patrick Harrisgetting out of a vehicle before entering a building to purchase a new disguise. The images also feature a number of other unidentified actors, including two older females dressed in identical costumes, and a man whose oversized coat has two large hooks attached where his hands would be. According to the show’s IMDB page, the “Hook-Handed Man” is played byUsman Ally, whileJacqueline RobertsandJoyce Robertsare most likely the two women seen in the photos, whose roles are listed as “White-Faced Woman #1” and “White-Faced Woman #2.”

Lemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate Eventstells the story of three orphaned children. Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire are constantly battling their evil uncle Count Olaf, who is only out to inherit their family fortune.Brad Silberling, who directed the original movie, was believed to be returning to direct, butBarry Sonnnenfeldcame aboard last month to direct. It isn’t known ifBarry Sonnenfeldwill direct just the pilot episode, or if he will be on board for every episode.Patrick Warburtonwill provide the narration as Lemony Snicket throughout the eight-episodeNetflix series.

TheLemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate EventsTV show is being produced in association with Paramount TV and Netflix.Daniel Handler, the author of the novel series who writes under the pen nameLemony Snicket, is set to executive produce. The 2004 movie based onDaniel Handler’snovel seriesstarredJim Carreyas Count Olaf, and those familiar with the movie will notice quite the resemblance between both versions of the character.
