My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 Is Sure to Be a Tear-Jerker

Released back in 2002, the firstMy Big Fat Greek Weddingintroduced audiences to the Portokalos family. Worried about Toula, who is unmarried at 30 years old and works at Dancing Zorba’s, the Greek restaurant owned by her parents, the movie follows Toula as she falls in love with Ian Miller, a teacher who is tall, handsome and definitely not Greek. Received well by critics, the first outing was followed first by the sitcomMy Big Fat Greek Lifeand then by a sequel,My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, in 2016.

Despite the negative reaction to the second installment, the comedy franchise has seen major success at the box office, with Nia Vardalos teasing a real tear-jerker inMy Big Fat Greek Wedding 3.“We actually have a scene where we’re dancing on a dock in the most beautiful cobalt light that our incredible cinematographer Barry Peterson waited for and waited for and waited for,“the writer, director, and star said. “John and I are standing on a pier dancing together, and we were both in tears. It was incredible.”

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 15, 2025.
