The future of theFast and Furiousfranchise has been doing more U-turns than the speeding vehicles featured in the high-octane movie saga. From talk ofa two-part finale becoming three movies, more spinoffs heading into development, andVin Diesel’s disgruntled wish for everyone to stop demanding so muchand just let him get on and make a simple film about street racing, it is hard to know exactly when and where theFast Sagawill reach its conclusion. Now starLudacrishas murkied the waters a little more with new comments about what comes next.

Speaking toUS Weekly, the rapper-turned-actor discussed his new Häagen-Dazs’ Super Bowl ad, which features hisFastcostars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, and explained how being “family” is something that doesn’t just end with the movies. He said:

Still from Fast Five.

“We don’t throw around that word family loosely,” the actor dished. “We say it all the time, but we really mean it. What I mean by that is …if you think of any other movie franchise, I can guarantee you — for the most part — that when people yell ‘cut’ and they leave from shooting the movie, they’re not still spending holidays together. It’s like the best thing ever. It’s always great to reunite, but I just saw both of them not too long ago, so we don’t have to be shooting anything for us to be reuniting.”

What is Happening With ‘Fast 11’ and Future Movies?

Naturally, not many people are saying much about the next, and potentially final,Fast and Furiousinstallment, and Ludicris is not much different. As it turns out, that is because he doesn’t really know anything, but what he does believe is that theFast Sagais a long way from parking up and turning off its engine for good. He added:

“The only reason I’m not able to talk about 11 is because we don’t even have any details yet about anything. I wish I could share, but I do know that the [25th] anniversary is coming up of the very first one [2001’s The Fast and the Furious]. There’s rumors of there being one more installment, so we shall see.

The franchise is so huge, it never really goes away. There’s always something that may be an extension of it or a rebirth of it that’s going to continue, because people love this car culture, and they love what each of the characters stand for so much. I feel like they live vicariously through these characters in many ways.”

Vin Diesel Smooths Over ‘Fast and Furious’ Feud With New Social Media Post

The ‘Fast and Furious’ Star took to social media to reassure fans that any feud has been squashed.

Fast Xdelivered a moderately successful box office run in 2023, and audiences were happy with the movie in general. However, the film’s reported budget of over $370 million – partly caused by a lengthy and troubled production through Covid and directorial changes – meant that its box office haul of $714 million saw it fall a long way short of providing the kind of success Universal had hoped for. Now,Fast 11is seemingly going to end the story of Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto, but a spinoff focusing on Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes is also expected to be made at some point. Several other spinoffs are being considered, but how many will reach the finish line is something that we can only wait and find out.
