Aside from a slew of set photos and videos taken from the Toronto set, our only official look atJared Leto’s Joker inSuicide Squadcame at the end of thefirst trailerthat was released during Comic Con. It still isn’t known when the next trailer will arrive, but while we wait for the next batch of footage,Jared Letoshowcased a meme on hisInstagram, which featuresJack Nicholson’s Joker from 1989’sBatmanandHeath Ledger’s portrayal from 2008’sThe Dark Knight. The photo also includes the message “Don’t Worry, Leto Will Make Us Proud.” Here’s what the actor had to say about this image on hisInstagrampage.

“Great work@gaunted! Was wondering who made it! Amazing. I see a few thought It was me but it wasn’t. Just thought it was clever sweet + fun.”

Much likeHeath Ledger’s casting inThe Dark Knight, many fans didn’t respond too well toJared Letotaking on this iconic villain inSuicide Squad. As production got under way, the tide started turning, and more fans started to embrace the actor’s portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime, but we’ll have to wait and see if his performance is just as beloved as his predecessor. Sadly,Heath Ledgerwasn’t given the chance to see how much fans embraced his performance, since he died in January 2008 at the age of 29, seven months beforeThe Dark Knightdebuted in theaters.

From the bits and pieces ofJared Leto’sJokerthat we’ve seen so far, his performance certainly appears to be quite different than whatJack NicholsonandHeath Ledgerhad to offer. Rumor has it that this Joker spends most of the movie locked away in a jail cell, but we’ve already seen set photos and videos of him speeding through the streets of Toronto in an exotic sports car, with Harley Quinn at his side, and Batman (Ben Affleck) hanging on for dear life on the roof of this vehicle. We have also seen bits and pieces of scenes where he’s seen striking Harley Quinn on the street, but there is very little we know about how this all ties into the story.

This star-studded cast also includesWill SmithasDeadshot,Joel Kinnamanas Rick Flagg,Jai Courtneyas Boomerang,Cara Delevingneas Enchantress andViola Davisas Amanda Waller. The supporting cast is rounded out byScott Eastwood,Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje,Ike Barinholtz,Ray Olubowale,Alex Meraz,Jim ParrackandCommon.David AyerdirectedSuicide Squadfrom his own screenplay, based on theDC Comics.

It isn’t known when the second trailer forSuicide Squadwill arrive, but hopefully it will give fans a better look at The Joker. Do you thinkJared Leto’s performance could stack up to bothJack NicholsonandHeath Ledger? Or do you think his version of the Joker will ultimately be forgotten? Let us know what you think, after checking out this memeJared Letoshared on hisInstagrampage.
