Back in May, as production was under way onThe Dark Tower, authorStephen Kingtweeted out an interesting photo, which featured an item fans of his novel series recognized as the Horn of Eld. The author had also recently teased that the movie will begin with the very first line of his book, but then the plot will shift to the middle of the story. These revelations, along with other details about the adaptation, have many fans convinced thatThe Dark Toweris not actually an adaptation of the novels, but a sequel to them. That theory just got a very big boost with the emergence of new photos from the set.

The newset photoswere taken from the New York City set yesterday, featuringIdris Elbaalongside his young co-starTom Taylor, who plays Jake Chambers in this adaptation. While the photos, which surfaced fromJust Jared, don’t offer too many details about the scene they’re shooting, one particular image reveals thatIdris Elba’s Roland Deschain actually has the Horn of Eld on his person. While we don’t know for sure, this photo could in fact confirm the theory thatThe Dark Towerwill serve as a sequel toStephen King’s original book series.

Many fans were puzzled whenAbbey Leewas cast asTirana, a minor character who only appears in the final novel. If this Horn of Eld theory is true, then it would make sense for Tirana to be cast.Stephen King’s final novel ends as the first novel began, with Roland Deschain chasing the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), but this time, he holds the Horn of Eld, which was long thought to be missing. While the Horn of Eld’s presence certainly seems to hint that this project is a sequel to the books, and not a straight-up adaptation, those details have yet to be confirmed.

It’s also worth noting that one of the other characters,Michael Barbieri’s Timmy, doesn’t have a huge role in the books, as a friend ofTom Taylor’s character Jake Chambers. Both authorStephen Kingand directorNikolaj Arcelhave confirmed that this movie won’t be following the first book exactly, but they also didn’t confirm that this movie is a sequel to the books either. It isn’t known how much longer production will be under way, but hopefully we’ll have more details soon.
