Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios, has finally revealed a release window for theKing of the Hillrevival, and it’s happening very soon. Airing for thirteen seasons on Fox,King of the Hillwas one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed adult-animated programs of all time, and ever since the series concluded in 2010, fans have hoped to return to Arlen, Texas. In 2022, work on a newKing of the Hillrevival began, with the series officially being picked up in January 2023. The series is said to feature a time jump, focusing on now-adult Bobby Hill.

Speaking with Deadline, Eric Schrier said that “King of the Hillis premiering this summer, and it’s really good, really excited about it.” After being in animation for two years, a 2025 release date sounds on schedule. Schrier did not specify when the series would air. However, it was previously announced that a special clip of the episode would air on August 07, 2025, at the Austin Texas Television Festival, suggesting a premiere date might be announced then. Schrier also spoke about whyKing of the Hilland another former Fox animated series,Futurama, were revived on Hulu as opposed to Fox,which recently picked up new seasons ofAmerican Dad. Scrier said:

10 Actors You Didn’t Know Guest Starred on ‘King of the Hill’

‘King of the Hill’ was king of guest stars, featuring some voice acting talent that might surprise you.

“So it was timing and how much could fit on the Fox schedule with all the other shows that they’re doing. We’ll see how that works over time. But there’s a very symbiotic relationship between Fox adult animation and Hulu and 20th Animation as a studio.”

When to Expect ‘King of the Hill’ to Premiere

When exactlyKing of the Hill’s new season will premiere remains a mystery. For both ofFuturama’s revived seasons on Hulu, the series aired the Monday after San Diego Comic-Con, though that seemed more fitting for the sci-fi-centric property. Given the emphasis onKing of the Hillbeing a story about fathers and sons, particularly between Hank and Bobby Hill, a Father’s Day release window would be appropriate.

There are certainly a lot of expectations for theKing of the Hillrevival, particularly since the series went off the air, many of theprominent cast members have passed away. Brittany Murphy, who voiced Luanne, and Tom Petty, who voiced her husband Lucky, passed away in 2009 and 2017, respectively. John Hardwick, who voiced the iconic role of Dale Gribble, passed away on July 23, 2025. He reportedly has recorded some of his work for the upcoming series, but there is no word on how the series will move forward without Hardwick.
