Kevin Baconseems to be channeling DC’s John Constantine in his new horror series,The Bondsman, which has received a new first-look ahead of its April 3 release on Prime Video. Bacon spoke withVanity Fairabout the Blumhouse Television-produced series, in which he plays a resurrected bounty hunter on the tail of escaped demons and his own redemption.
Bacon is certainly no stranger to horror, havingstarred in the originalFriday the 13thalong with movies such asHollow Man, Stir of Echoes, andMaxxxine, but this one is a little different as it brings with it a certain amount of humor with its excessive gore. As he explained:

“It is very violent and has a lot of blood and scares, but it also has some tongue-in-cheek aspects. It’s oftentimes funny, and it also has a lot of heart.”
In the series, Bacon plays Hub Halloran, who lives on a farm with his mother, Kitty (Beth Grant), having separated from wife and musician Maryanne (Jennifer Nettles). After being brutally killed in the opening scene, Halloran’s shady past puts him right in the sights of Hell’s management team, who recruit him to track down the evil souls that have escaped the fiery pits, for which he may be able to save his own soul and redeem himself for whatever wrongs he did in the past. As the actor explained:

“He’s completely in denial about how he could ever have ended up in Hell. He’s like, ‘There’s got to be some kind of mistake. There’s been a glitch in the system.’ But he knows.”
Kevin Bacon Explains Why Action Scenes Aren’t the Biggest Challenge
WhileThe Bondmanrequired some physical work from Bacon, something he threw himself into with ease, that was not the biggest challenge of working on the series. For the actor, it is much harder to do the stuff in between the action, as he explained:
“I like it when it’s life or death. Just on a purely technical basis, if you look at a horror movie, there’s a very short percentage where you’re actually happy or smiling. For an hour and 15 minutes of performance, you have to find different levels of terror, anxiety, sadness, anger, rage. So for an actor, it’s a very challenging thing to try to make that interesting and not have people go, ‘God, he just did that. He just made that face 10 minutes ago.’”

Best Kevin Bacon Movies, Ranked
These are the greatest Kevin Bacon films that should receive praise and admiration from everyone.
As one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood, Bacon’s new series is sure to draw a crowd when it arrives on Prime Video, but it could well score well with those waiting patiently to see ifKeanu Reeves will ever return as DC’s demonologist, John Constantine. There are plenty of similarities to be found inThe Bondsman, and the series could prove to be a popular stop-gap for those seeking some redemptive demon hunting.
