John WickstarKeanu Reevespaid tribute to the late, greatLance Reddickwhile receiving the inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award at the Saturn Awards this weekend. Reeves, who starred alongside Reddick throughout theJohn Wickfranchise, with the pair also becoming friends off-screen, also praised the Saturn Awards for “recognizing and honoring” Reddick, who sadly passed away in March last year, aged 60.
“My gratitude and appreciation to the Saturn Awards for recognizing and honoring the warm, beautiful spirit, and exception artist, that is Lance Reddick. And for honoring me with the inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award.”

Reeves, who fought back tears during his speech, went on to pay tribute not just to how talented Reddick was an actor, but how kind and generous he was as a human being.
“For over 25 years, Lance made an imprint and raised the bar in every work of art and genre he was in. Not only with his performance, but with the man he was. Kind, generous, creative, insightful, authentic. He had a special grace. Strength, along with a vulnerability that drew us in, supported us, inspired us. He had a fire. Creative fire. A light from within him that could not be denied.”

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, the non-profit organization behind the Saturn Awards, dedicated the event toLance Reddickthis year, with Reeves now the first recipient to receive the Lance Reddick Legacy Award, which honors the actor and his contribution to the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres over the years.

John Wick: Chapter 4
Known best for his roles on the small screen in the likes ofThe Wire, Fringe,andBosch, and on the big screen in the John Wick franchise, Lance Reddicksadly passed away on July 30, 2025, from heart disease.
One of his final roles was as Charon inJohn Wick: Chapter 4, which was subsequently dedicated to him. Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski released a joint statement at the time calling him “a joy to work with.”

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.”
