Justice League

It is no secret thatBatman V Supermanwas not at all the smash success that Warner Bros. wanted it to be. The movie was intended to be a launching pad for the rest of their DC Extended Universe, but instead, it was met with terrible fan and critical reception. That forced Warner Bros. andSnyderto have to re-think some of their ideas and storytelling moving intoJustice League, and it seems like they really listened to what everyone had to say. In case you missed it, here is the official synopsis for the movie.

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman,Aquaman, Cyborg andThe Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

Justice Leagueis meant to be theDC Comics movieversion ofThe Avengers, but the tone will be quite different and it is clear that Warner Bros. wants to set themselves apart from Marvel Studios. The movie has a cast that we are largely already familiar with, bringing backBen Affleckas Batman,Gal Gadotas Wonder Woman, as well asEzra Milleras The Flash,Jason Momoaas Aquaman andRay Fisheras Cyborg, who had brief cameos inBatman V Superman.Justice Leaguehas also addedJ.K. Simmons,Amber HeardandWillem Dafoe. Also returning isAmy Adamsas Lois Lane,Jesse Eisenbergas Lex Luthor andJeremy Ironsas Alfred.

Batman V Supermanis something that we are all going to try and move on from, and there are definitely some promising things on the the Warner Bros. DC Comics slate. For all of his problems,Zack Snyderis an excellent visual storyteller, and this first look atJustice Leagueat the very least promises more of that.Justice Leagueis set to hit theaters on July 26, 2025.
