Embattled actorJohnny Depptook the stand for the second day in a row at his defamation trial with ex-wifeAmber Heard, presenting more of his side of the story and describing alleged incidents of abuse. After Heard had previously accused Depp of domestic violence, the actor’s reputation was tarnished. He is suing Heard for $50 million for defamation, arguing that he’s never been violent with his ex-wife or any other woman. Depp also says he was actually the one who was abused during their marriage. Heard denies this and is countersuing for $100 million, claiming that Depp insisting his innocence has defamed her.
In any case, Heard is expected to take the stand later in the trial. For now, Depp’s testimony has painted a picture of a man dealing with alleged abuse on a frequent basis. One of the most shocking allegations concerns an altercation that resulted in the tip of one of Depp’s fingers getting severed, resulting in corrective surgery. Heard has alleged that Depp caused the injury himself by smashing a mobile phone in anger.
In his testimony, Depp alleged that Heard was angry about a proposed postnuptial agreement, and that caused a confrontation at their rented home in Australia. Describing Heard as “irate and possessed,” Depp claims he locked himself in a room, later coming out when he believed she’d gone and poured himself “two or three” shot of vodka. Heard then emerged and allegedly grew more angry with Depp, as he had been abstaining from alcohol after she’d previously asked him to stop drinking. According to Depp, that’s when she threw a vodka bottle at him that missed and smashed into the wall behind him. Depp says he reacted to that by not reacting, pouring himself a shot with a second, larger vodka bottle; Heard then allegedly grabbed this bottle and threw it at Depp, resulting in the injury.
“She threw the large bottle, and it made contact, and shattered everywhere. I honestly didn’t feel the pain at first at all. I felt no pain whatsoever. What I felt was, I felt heat… and I felt as if something were dripping down my hand, you know. And then I looked down and realized that the tip of my finger had been severed, and I was looking directly at my bones sticking out… Blood was just pouring out. At that point, I think that I went into… I don’t know what a nervous breakdown feels like, but that’s probably the closest that I’ve ever been. Nothing made sense, and I knew in my mind, and in my heart, ‘This is not life.'”
“She has a need for conflict. She has a need for violence. It erupts out of nowhere. The only thing I learned to do is exactly what I did as a child — retreat… I was suddenly just wrong about everything. It was astounding how wrong I was about everything I’d experienced, within the film industry or just life itself. I was sort of not allowed to be right.”

Audio Tapes Allegedly of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp Were Played in Court
Johnny Depp’s lawyers also played portions of audio recordings of a conversation between the actor and Amber Heard. The audio seemingly lends credence to Depp’s assertion that Heard would get violent with him, with the actress allegedly admitting that she “did start a physical fight” at one point with Depp responding that he had to “get the f*** out of there.” Another moment from the recordings has Heard allegedly mocking Depp while admitting to “hitting” him, arguing the difference between hitting him and punching him. From the tapes:
“I did not fing deck you. I don’t know what the motion of my actual hand was but you’re fine! I did not hurt you! I did not punch you. I was hitting you… That’s the difference between me and you, you’re a fing baby. You’re such a baby! Grow the f*** up, Johnny… I did start a physical fight."
Depp also alleges that in April 2016, Heard was angry with him for being late to her 30th birthday party, allegedly striking him multiple times before he left. The former Pirates of the Caribbean star says he was notified soon after by a staffer that feces had been found on his side of the bed he shared with Heard. Depp has alleged that it was human fecal matter, insisting it must have been left by Heard or possibly a friend of hers. Heard has blamed the couple’s dogs, but Depp says that this isn’t possible based on the size of the dogs in comparison to what was found in the bed.
“I had received some news that was as absurd and grotesque and cruel, and then I was shown a picture of what the problem was… it was a photograph of our bed, and on my side of the bed was human fecal matter… my initial response to that was, I mean, I laughed. It was so outside, it was so bizarre, and so grotesque, that I could only laugh… And she tried to blame it on the dogs… they’re teacup Yorkies, they weigh about four pounds each. I lived with those dogs for many years… That did not come from a dog. It just didn’t.”
