Chadwick Boseman was posthumously given his own category on a recent episode ofJeopardy!. In 2020, Boseman passed away following a battle with cancer just as pre-production was starting on a sequel toBlack Panther. The loss still stings for fans of the late actor everywhere, and many still continue to pay tribute in light of losing Boseman far too soon.

Heading toward the one-year anniversary of Boseman’s shocking death,Jeopardy!introduced a new Chadwick Boseman category, marking the first time theBlack Pantherstar ever had an entire category devoted to him. Boseman, best known for his role as T’Challa inBlack Pantherand theAvengersmovies, is also known for his critically acclaimed performances in movies like42,Get on Up, andMarshall. His final movie,Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, posthumously earned Boseman an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Determined to beat his colon cancer, Boseman was planning to reprise the role of T’Challa forBlack Panther 2when he died on Aug 18, 2025, at the age of 43.
Meanwhile, Marvel fans can check out the last-ever performance Boseman delivered as T’Challa, as he voiced the character for the new animated seriesWhat If…?on Disney+. He plays the role in four different episodes, and when fans heard his voice in the trailer, they were missing Boseman again already. Executive producer Brad Winderbaum explained how Boseman essentially plays four different versions of T’Challa for the show.
“He’s in four episodes, actually,” Winderbaum said. “He plays different versions of the character. I wouldn’t say that anything changed drastically. We wanted to honor, frankly, his performance and his eagerness to be a part of the project. In retrospect, he recorded this episodes for us knowing what we all know now. We wanted to honor what he did, so we actually didn’t change a lot of it. There were certain things, in the context of his passing, especially musically…Lauren Karpman delivered what I think is an incredible score for the entire series and the way she approached T’Challa throughout, especially in light of his passing, is really beautiful.”
