Jared Padalecki might be saying goodbye toSupernatural, but that doesn’t mean he’s finished with The CW. Recently, it had been reported Padalecki would be starring in a remake of the Chuck Norris seriesWalker, Texas Ranger, though it wasn’t clear where the project would end up. A new update confirms that The CW has ordered the reboot series, keeping Padalecki on the network for the foreseeable future. The network had been one of the top contenders to land the upcoming series, and Padalecki may have had a hand in the deal as well as the actor was reportedly looking to “stay close to home” for his next small screen project.
The newWalker, Texas Rangeris written and executive produced by Anna Fricke (Valor), with Dan Lin (Lethal Weapon) also executive producing. Taking over the role originally portrayed by Chuck Norris,Jared Padaleckiwill play Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two returning home to Austin, Texas after two years of undercover police work. The series will also introduced a new female partner for Walker, described as one of the first women in Texas Rangers' history. Amid clashes with his conservative family members and his attempt to reconnect with his children, Walker will also investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding his wife’s death.
Padalecki is of course best known for starring onSupernatural, which has been airing on The CW since 2005. The sci-fi series follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they hunt demons, monsters, ghosts, and a variety of other supernatural beings. Just as big of a hit with critics as with viewers, the series boasts many 100% fresh ratings for different seasons on Rotten Tomatoes, with many others coming close. After running for eleven seasons, it set the record as the longest-running American live-action fantasy series. Although still very popular with its fan base, theseries will see its end after fifteen seasonson the network, ultimately bowing out with over 300 episodes.
It’s obviously been tough for big fans ofSupernaturalto prepare their goodbyes for the show after so many years. The series is now airing its fifth and final season on The CW, and it’s been just as hard for those involved in the show to see it come to an end as well.
